Online forms

There are four different ways you can integrate your website/forms with NGP VAN products. See below for more information!

ActionTag

This is the fastest and easiest way to embed forms in any website.

ActionTag is our form rendering library, allowing you to easily GET a form definition, render the form, prefill it, validate the inputs, and then submit it to the right endpoint. This works for any form, including contributions and advocacy forms.

With ActionTag you can copy/paste code directly from the form editor (click "Link & Embed" in the top right corner while you're editing a page) on any website. Forms can be themed via CSS on the CRM side and can also integrate with third party tools like Google Tag Manager.

Adding contacts via API

If you're creating your own forms and don't want to use ActionTag (though it's super easy, definitely check it out!) you can add contacts via API using the /people/findOrCreate endpoint. While fairly straight forward this is the most 'clunky' option available on the page because you need to create integrations for each form.

Zapier + Online Actions

Note: this is technically an "Officially Unsupported" feature. Learn more about features like this here.

Online Actions API endpoint

If you want to bypass ActionTag it is possible to do the form POST yourself - but you will lose out on the benefits of the optimized UI, the prefilling, and the validation that ActionTag handles, and you will be responsible for doing that yourself.

Contribution and advocacy forms are not supported this way.
